the numbers doesnt really mean anything. it is the ribbon that counts.
it is like being in a street race. where the race track = challenge topic
and you have the same regular racers (members) fighting for the ribbon.
and the lap-time is your voter score.
it doesnt matter if your lap-time (voter score) is lower than other ribbon scores, because each track (challenge) has different difficulties.

That's pretty interesting. I see there have only been six challenges in DPC history where the blue ribbon scored under 6.500. Three of those were in 2009.
My average score given - AVERAGE - was considerably higher than the blue ribbon score. I think its just that not everyone loves pigeons as much as I do.

It may not matter if all you are looking at is placement in a given challenge, but the actual vote does provide some measure of the popular appeal of your image.
