Thanks for this info Craig. I kept reading the rules but missed this one. That helps on the textures at least :)
Edit: ok I saw a DQ'd photo - the very last one in the referenced FS - that kind of answers the brush question.
No brushes are not, in the sense that they are already an image of their own. A soft blurring one is ok, but for example brushes for leaves, birds, faces, tombstones, etc are not allowed, as they are actually images that are more than textures and were not taken by you. Does that make sense? :~P

Brushes have been used in expert editing before I remember Bear adding some birds in the sky. Was this rule changed?
My understanding is, what I did won't be allowed anymore. I'm not sure they "changed" the rule per se (it's been a while), but my recollection is they gave me the benefit of the doubt since it was the first challenge under expert editing rules. I could be wrong, but that's what I vaguely remember. I've certainly never tried to anything like that since :-)
