Some of you may wish to give a greater sense of dimension to your images to give it a more 3D or "Pop" effect.

Here is a technique I employ to achieve this effect.

The soft light tip about boosting the contrast is one of the best I've heard in a while! Works really well with b&w photos. Thanks!

I'm a fan of the soft light blending mode on a duplicate layer (really works nicely in some cases, but not all) but I've never tried it with varying degrees of desaturation first. I have used it with a black and white layer on top of a color layer - ie create a duplicate layer, convert to B&W, then use soft light blending mode on that B&W layer. Resulting image is color, but more contrasty and a bit less saturated.
