I had to search the original for a minute to even see the speck. I'll back you up on this one. It's totally possible for it to disappear without spot editing. There was a slight line in the background of my Enemies photo, (from the edge of the glass I had the bottle sitting on), and in adjusting curves and levels it darkened the line to the point you couldn't see it. Is there any way you can argue this? I don't think it should be DQ'd.
ETA: LOL this comment is from paperpages , not ARMphoto, I was accidentally signed in under my husbands account. :)
Why would it take the SC so long to do the dq? Normally ribbon-winning dqs seem to be caught within a couple of days.
eta: do agree that use of curves esp can really help knock out or make small dings like that virtually disappear. It's saved me from having to use cloning several times.
I believe you. Hopefully you can reproduce it and give the exact information. I did something once that lessened dust, but I can't remember what I did...

I can not remember the exact steps but I did manage to have it disappear without spot editing

I'd chalk it up to a learning experience, and then try and record all your steps on any editing that is anything like this in the future.
