I use that lens on my Rebel 2000 (film). I got it a few months ago to use as a travel lens and have been very pleased with it. It is impressively sharp at 300mm. I got some fantastic wildlife shots on ISO 100 slide film without a tripod in the daylight at the 300mm setting.
I used to have this lens, it's a nice walkabout lens but needs good light in order to use. Sweet spot is around f/8-11, but is very soft and mostly unusable wide open.
