Well my 138th vote was a 1. I know it goes on but to see it happen in front of your eyes is very annoying. No comment of course and it dropped me back below 6. Considering my last comment was predicting the blue (kind but somewhat optimistic I fear) it is so wrong to see your image drop below 6 for the fist time in days thanks to some idiot. It really does get you thinking about what their motivation for it is. FWIW...

Three days on this one - a lot of really good candid images in this challenge and a few that I had to rerate and review more than once - everybody who participated should be proud of their efforts.

I saw about 30 or so really nice examples of candid shots and voted them accordingly. But it seemed that the vast majority of images entered were quick hip-shot snaps with little to draw me in.
I totally agree. There was an abundance of direct flash, as well.

I have gotten several comments in this challenge and I have been thrilled to receive them. All of them I agree with even if there were some parts that were critical. I always assume that comments are made with the best of intentions and not made out of malice or to be mean.

I also agree and didn't really sweat the small stuff when I was out and about with the camera. I did however get 1 comment about the background being too busy but it seemed as if it didn't affect the voters score one way or the other. Who knows though.

PS. a photo could be taken from a long distance using a distance lens and sunlight and this sometimes would look as if the scene was set, and the natural lighting of the sun would appear as if a flash was used. My entry was taken this way and the subjects did not even know that they had been shot in a candid moment, to the viewer it could appear as if the shot was staged.
Candid, to me, means people -- not dogs, cats, trees, etc. Sure, you can appeal to the definiton and make a case, but it's not going to win you points. Really, how many animals act differently when there's a camera in the room? (Yes, I know, your Aunt Violet had a Siamese and they called her Flashcube because...)
I'm also having trouble calling sports and performance shots candid. Truly candid moments rarely involve an audience.
