why did you convert to crayon style? what was the message you wanted to send by doing that? how does the pic benefit from that kind of stylizing... those may start to point you in the right direction. whats the original like?
Personally, this completely over processed style is not my thing, as it loses its photographic quality. As for this shot, I see a while border/halo around the subject, while everything else has a light pink hue to it.
this kind of picture isnt my cup of tea either but i agree with vitaminB in that if this were my kinda thing i would appreciate it more if the pink what turned to white. even so what was your purpose in editing the picture this way. what does the stylization bring to the picture in your opinion?
Hi Nick, I checked out your pics at Photobucket. A couple shots have nice color/saturation (flower shots specifically) while some are blown out and the "shredder" shot is quite dark. Editing seems at the extremes: either non-existent or heavy handed as with the shot above. I feel like I am being kind of "mean" here, but you wanted feedback... try metering for the lighter areas of the frame (clouds / sky) so they don't blow out. Use levels or curves to try to balance out the dark and light tones in the image. That old adage practice makes perfect is true - try to make your shots "perfect" with editing without overdoing it. It is easy to be heavy-handed, I know.
I am still quite new at this myself, but I hope this helps somewhat.
