Using the Liquify in Advance Editing

Is if OK to use the Liquify Tool in advance edit. I read back at some threads and it seems if you use it in a sublte manner that it is OK. Is this correct?

From Advanced Edit Rules:

You may not:
use distortions to create new effects or radically alter objects.

IMO Liquify distorts things so is a may not use tool but that is only my opinion. I suggest you send a PM to one of the SC for an official opinion.

Yes. Use it for tweaking an edge or a curve and it's fine. Any use that calls attention to the "liquification" would be a DQ-able new feature.

My question is more for portrait photography. Does tucking/thinning an arm, or hip, or adding a bit of volume to the hair, all legal? It seems that would fall under tweaking a curve or line. Thanks.

i curious too. can you buff a guy up, or slim a girl down if it isnt an obvious edit?

I used it for a tummy tuck in one of my photos, and it was pre-approved by SC. That doesn't necessarily mean it would pass post challenge however.

You'd be amazed at the tummies I've flattened, bums I've tucked, breasts I've enhanced and hair I've poofed. If done with subtlety, liquify is the bestest tool PS ever gave us. I love liquify! I love liquify! I love liquify! I love liquify!

yup. Been validated on several occasions. Again, as long as the effects are subtle!

a little nip and tuck is ok. Radical changes where you've taken daffy duck and made him into the Rock are not.

I have used it on a few images....just minor line adjustments of a tummy, hair, arm, butt.....and I have had no problem with DQ's. Now checking your date stamp....that is another story for me :O(

It seems it's okay to perform minor adjustments with liquify. But say you perform such an adjustment, say on an arm, but that messes up some hair surrounding it. The easiest way is to use the clone stamp tool and "create" some hair JUST to fill the TINY messed up pixels you have. What would SC say on that?

ETA a quote from the ruleset:

use ANY editing tool to move, remove or duplicate any element of your photograph that would change a typical viewer’s description of the photograph.

It doesn't, but I kinda duplicated something. But it looks that it is okay, or?
