I want to make some photos of girl sitting in the hot bath (tub). So I would like to show some steam over the water. I dont want to boil the girl, so I am looking for some way how to create this effect (not in Photoshop, though :o)
I found that if you leave your camera in the car in 12ยบ weather for a couple of hours then take it inside and immediately shoot with it, the condensation on the sensor works nicely!
Seriously, I didn't realize what happened 'til later......the dry ice, or a smoke/fog machine is the best answer.
You could try incense, but for a whole bathtub you might need quite a lot. It's worth a try though because I'm assuming it would take a considerable amount of effort to track down some dry ice.
2nd the suggestion for the fog machine. However you have to do a little extra work if you want the fog to stay low to the ground, I made a cooling system with an old igloo cooler and some plastic hose. I cut 2 holes in the cooler one on each side, hooked the plastic hose up to each end from the inside and coiled the hose around the interior of the cooler,. I made a snoot for one end that the fog machine blows the smoke into and another hose on other side for fog to exit, fill the cooler with ice to cool the fog and it will stay low to the surface alot longer.
On a hot humid summer day, accidentally leave the valve on the 2500 gallon liquid nitrogen storage tank not quite fully closed...the whole yard will be full of thick fog.
Not that I'd know anything about that from experience of course...
