Hello Everyone,

Can I get a 75-300mm lens for multipurpose use (from shooting wild life to portrait to indoor/outdoor activities to landscape etc)? I just have to adjust the focal length depending on what type of photos I am taking. Is this possible? Please advise.

I look at the prices and I can't afford so many different lens :( So, I thought if I get a 75-300mm, it could do most of the job.

[added] I don't really need a super telephoto or super wide angle. Just "normal" photography.

Even at it's widest it's a bit long for most indoors stuff, so you may need a wide zoom as well like a 24-75mm.

I agree that a 70-300 is definitely excessive for most indoor uses. I think an 18-200 will be more useful for you overall. Better for landscapes, better for general use. It doesn't have as much on the long side, but is going to be more useful for everything else.

Tamron makes a 28-300 mm that is very good. That might work.

If it is the same 28-300 that my wife uses it wont work that great indoors unless it is very well lit. It is also a bit soft on the long end and it creeps worse than any other lens I have ever owned or used. It does give you some pretty sharp photos from 28-200mm.

I have one of those and it is my primary lens. I only need to use the kit lens when I want a bit more of a wideangle view. Picked it up used for a very good price. I believe NikonJeb also has this lens. I don't know if it is made in a Sony/Minolta mount.

ETA: According to Tamron's product specs it is available in a Sony mount.
