For my tastes, the first one is generally superior. The rap against it might be that the skin is just too harsh, all the flaws and details are too prominent, but at the same time this is what makes it better on everything-but-skin.
But the thing of it is, you can layer the first one on the second one, then you can erase the faces, and you have both. Or you can layer the second one, lasso the faces, cntrl-x them and then cntrl-v them. Then you have a soft overall base layer, a sharper, crisper everything-but-faces second layer, and a third layer of nothing-but-faces that is likewise sharp & crisp. Now you can vary the opacity of the 2 overlays so you get the right balance, more soft on the faces but not as soft as base, and more crisp on the clothing but not as crisp as the full overlay.
