I found 6-7 film camera batteries and some of them are finished while some may work, and I've tried about a billion combinations and none of them are working. Is there anyway to check if the battery works without a voltage meter or those gizmos that measure battery life?

Unfortunately, camera batteries are too weak for the more... household-type "experiments"
If you have another device that uses the same type # battery, then you could try them in that item to see if they will power it.
If they are not expensive batteries, you could buy enough of the least expensive ones to power the camera. If the camera works, then you can use the camera to test the ones you have.
If the camera takes two similar batteries, then you only need one to check the others. Put the new one in the camera, then try it in combination with each of the questionable ones.
