has anyone checked out this site? it ties in with google earth. so you can post photos of places you've been - or where you are. if they get approved by google earth they will show up on the google earth map if you chose to view photos...
i got one of my shots from poland approved ( well the only one i uploaded ) - it takes a few weeks before it's reviewed.
because i don't know the actual longitude and latitude of the spot i took the shot. i don't have a GPS thingy...

You don't need Long/Lat or GPS. After you upload a shot, you have the option to Locate it. Type in City, State to get yourself in the neighborhood, then a map window appears, in which you can zoom out/in and pan. Then double-click in the map to drop a pin, which you can drag to another spot if you want to. Then you click a link below the map to save the position.
You can configure it to send emails when you get comments. I get a TON of comments, and have always been diligent about deleting any where people put in links the some Panoramio Contest they're in. Spammy Dumbasses.

It's simple, really! Now, DO IT! :-)

If it doesn't have your town, you can just type in Poland, and then zoom in manually from there.
ETA: It looks like Panoramio resizes pix automatically, do you guys upload web-res versions or big ones?
I always upload web-sized versions, partly because I don't see the point in uploading something that's only going to be viewed on a monitor, the extra time it takes to upload (especially on dial-up) and also if you keep clicking on the images, you get to the original uploaded image and I'm not keen on making full-size images available to everyone.

Thanks for the summary -- that's about as reasonable as it gets for this kind of thing. The only thing it really restricts one from doing is later granting someone else exclusive rights to the image -- not likely in the case of any of mine ...
I've been doing something similar with Google Maps (My Maps) but instead of posting just pictures that I have already taken I'm also marking spots that I want to return to. Places where the scene was good but the lighting or weather wasn't right. That way before I head out on a shoot I can scope the areas that I've marked for return.
Using My Maps you can keep them private, make them public or share them with selected friends. Maybe this is something the DPC community would like to share?
