A model release is for YOU, the photographer. SO that you can use the images in your marketing, competitions, etc.
As for clients, if you give up the full res file it doesn't matter what you had them sign, you'll have to chase them down if they've done more than you wanted them to do. And you'll be the big meanie bad photog guy if you want more money for say, use on a biz card when all you thought they wanted was a print for their desk at work.
