I have photoshop installed at home and on my work computer. At work, if I copy an image from the Internet and paste it in to Photoshop, the entire image gets really, REALLY red. I'm not sure what settings are different, and I have tried to change several settings in an attempt to fix the probem, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Make sure you are using the sRGB color profile. That's usually the culprit most other times this has come up.

If work PS is set to default colorspace, that would be AdobeRGB, and I have never seen as extreme a color shift as Scott seems to be describing in an sRGB/AdobeRGB conflict; it's usually much more subtle than that. So if "really, REALLY red" is an accurate indicator of the severity of the problem, I doubt it is solely a colorspace issue.

But what do I know? I'm not an expert on this. Perhaps there is some bizarre colorspace that the work edition got set to that *can* account for this extreme shift.

What's the setting for when there is no embedded profile? If it's assign to working space that's your culprit. Make sure if you're doing any changes to colour space it's a convert not an assign.

I will run some tests on the color profile again in a few minutes and post the results. Let me expound on the problem too. If I open a photo that I uploaded from my home computer, the color shift is still there, although not as bad, but if I crop the photo at work, and then save it, then open the photo in the default windows picture/fax viewer, the color shift is gone. If I copy a photo off the web from someone else (family photos on facebook, for instance). The color shift is much more extreme, and even after saving it, it is still there.
