Can high pass sharpen be used in basic? The high pass sharpen dialog box in PaintShop Pro has a "blend mode" setting which suggests to me that it may be using layers in some challenge-forbidden manner.

Yeah, I think the fact that high-pass sharpening (at least the way I do it) uses a soft/hard/vivid light blending mode in achieving its effect and would be illegal in basic.

You can use clarify in PSP.

i asked ages ago if you could use high pass in basic and was told no .. to use it to sharpen wouldnt be allowed either ..
using high pass to sharpen
you wouldnt be using a 'normal' blending mode on the high pass layer to create the sharpening effect and any other blending mode than normal isnt allowed in basic .. :)

edit .. sorry i didnt notice tim had already said all that .. i'll leave it in rather than have an empty post . :)
