I took the 1st time-lapse with my newish Canon G10 this morning. 924 images at 50 frames per second. Hernando Desoto bridge over the Mississippi River @ Memphis, TN.
what was the time duration from first shot to last? looks like a half a day passed. Love the barge rolling through the frame. Nice steady smooth motion.
How did you do this? I thought they dropped the timelapse feature on the G10 (was included with the G9)?

Canon dropped the built-in time-lapse feature on the the G10 that was on the G9, but the G10 has a shutter jack (unlike the G9) so I used my timemachine. The G9's feature was really lame any way as it combined images into a movie (640x480) so you never really had any control over frame rate, etc. I wanted a P&S over one of my Nikon DSLRs because editing a dust spot out of 750+ images is tiresome, and Nikon doesn't really make a decent P&S that shoots RAW (the new P6000 shoots a funky RAW, but it had not so good reviews).

It was 924 images @ at 4 second intervals, so it was a little over an hour, thirty minutes before and after sunrise.
Also how did you work out the exposure? (how would you work it out for a sunrise?)
Really want to give this a go, have a remote with this feature but results so far have been a bit pants. And i'm scared of my shutter falling off, i meen you only get so many out of the shutter right?

I used QT pro, its limited but I haven't found anything better especially for $30.
Exposure was aperture priority with -.03 compensation using matrix (or whatever Canon calls it) metering.
Yea, you can really wear out a DSLR's shutter quite quickly, another reason for going with the G10. My D200 still looked brand new, but had over 150k cycles in just under a year when I sold it. I promised my wife I wouldn't wear out my D300 as fast;-)

But love the feel of the 4 sec duration you have.
I am hoping to do this from sun up to sun down.
How long is the battery life on a 4 sec. duration?
What size memory card will I need?
Will this camera do this operation for as long as I want or is there a cut off like the Nikon P500?

Are you saying you want to do a photo every 4 seconds? That's a TON if you're shooting all day, and really unnecessary unless you're aiming to have the motion be really slow, since you won't be able to see faster moving things in the video, anyway. I did one just to mess around, //farm5.static.flickr.com/4009/4458675115_8b9b1a0c4b_o.gif, which I think took a photo every 30 seconds. I've got one of a flower opening somewhere around here, which did the same thing, and the motion is pretty fluid.
