I live in Hawaii, and it's still April 25 here. 10:21pm to be exact. I get home from work and find out I can't submit my entry.. I spent 4 hours to get this shot and I can't use it :(
Here is my entry, had I been a few hours earlier.
"The Aloha State"
Everyone thinks of sand, surf, palm trees, flowers, and other greenery along with beautiful women when the word "Hawaii" comes to mind. I chose a dusty, dirty, dry spot with dried weeds, rocks, and garbage trucks. The license plate in the foreground which also says "Hawaii" and "Aloha State" offers a bit of irony.
There's a clock on the website that announces the server time, and everything runs from that. I had to have this explained to me recently too, as I live in another day entirely!

When I first found the site I would read all rules over and over again just to make sure that I was submitting correctly and by the rules.
Quite a bit of changes in the past couple of months. So it's good to hang out and look at some of the treads for any changes. I didn't even notice the new advance (April 25)rules under it was bump in the forums.
The intent of my shot was the license plate in the foreground being the object of focus, hence the desaturated and gaussian blurred background. The idea I was trying to get across may have been too subtle, or just poorly executed.
Your aim and mine were about the same - to show that not everyone has a soft spot in the heart for where they live. Yours was the more poignant statement also in that you live in a place renown for its paradise. (Your shot was also more technically correct than mine, but that's another matter.)
The only thing I might have done differently is to have gotten down closer to the plate, put it more on eye level, then gone for an incredibly small asa (f/32?) to make sure the plate was big and in focus and the rest was smaller yet in focus.
The largest F-stop on my camera is 8.0 and even with the shutter at 1/1000 sec, the exposure was waaaaay overblown and almost pure white.
Good point on the eyelevel perspective. Didn't think to get closer to the ground, the sun was killing me and I had 20 minutes to get home and get ready for work so this was sort of a last minute attempt.
It was either this shot of dry, barren, dirtiness with a license plate.. or walk around the seedy parts of town taking pictures of homeless people and I felt a tad safer doing this shot.
Midnight DPC time is 13:00 next day here. I guess if i took a shot last minute, and submitted, it won't be a valid submission either.
Just a reminder that the SC will take timezones into account if there is a DQ request for proof made, so don't worry about that too much. Of course, if you're travelling into another timezone, remember to both change your camera timestamp and include where you took the photo in your submission details! :o)

Even more frustrating was my trying to submit a last minute entry to the Silhouettes challenge. I click the link to go to the submission page and am greated by a message at the top saying I was too late -- with my clock saying 10:55pm (and the timestamp at the bottom saying 11:56pm). Oh well, I was a bit disappointed -- at least I was until I looked at the entries and saw how much my feeble attempt was outclassed.
Lesson learned, do not make last minute entries. Although that is tough not to do in the members challenges as Sunday is usually the only day of the week I have to go out and take pictures.

It is valid. All deadlines are DPC time. If where you took your shot is filled in, or where you live is in your profile, we consider the time zome adjustment when deciding if your shot is taken within the valid timeframe.
