i am trying to use quick mask on a shot but when i enter quick mask mode and start hitting it with the brush i am not seeing the red...any ideas?

you need to set your colors to black and white... ?

try reversing black and white with the arrows on the bottom of your tool box. Or just hit the x on your keyboard.
