So I took this shot the other night and I could not get what I wanted... (if i cropped any more it would lose quality and things like this...)



Here is what I did:
Nikon D40
55-200mm Lens
Crop
Sharpen
B&W convert
little bit of contrast and raised the exposure a bit.

I don't think I like it... What should I do???

Get a longer lens...:-) In order to get a larger higher res image of the moon you will need a longer lens. I don't think it's all that bad. Did you use a remote or the timer on the camera to make sure that you reduce vibration causing slight motion blur? Not sure if your camera has mirror lockup as well helping keep down on vibration as well.

I used self timer on tripod... I am not sure what I don't like about it but I see all the moon shots other people do and I just don't like mine the same...

I would suggest framing the photo so that there are other elements other than the moon. This will give it a sense of scale, and give the photo a little more interest.
