I opened them both in photoshop, did a sample from the medium tint on the colour photo's hair. Closed the colour version.
Duplicated the layer on the B&W version and changed the mode to 8bit RGB. I chose a large, soft brush set to 100% opacity and put it in colour mode. Then, painted over the hair.
Then, I added a layer mask and painted white on the red side and black on the B&W side with my brush set back to normal.
Finally, I went to the smudge tool and used a soft brush set to 35% and gently smudged the black and white on the layer mask to soften the edges and drag the red out onto the stray hairs. Different sized brushes gives you more control.
I set the opacity of the layer to 88% and merged it down.
