Honestly....... I think you are a little late on the capture, the peak hit is what I would have liked to see. I always try to see it coming and start a burst before and shoot all the way through the play. Its a nice capture, but one I would have wanted to see 3 frames earlier in a burst.

You are welcome, sometimes I forget to come back and do that when I put up quick comments while working.
Here is an example that shows what I am talking about. Although while using flash your bursts have to be a bit shorter for recycle times and also for not overheating the flash.

This is the next photo in the burst and IMHO a better photo because this is peak action(didnt run
as the player getting clobbered is the local kid and the other team isnt) But had I shot or shown them farther in the sequence I'm essentially past peak and just showing two people falling to the ground after a hit, IMHO the next photos in this sequence is where your photo would fall. And those would be ones that I wouldnt show to the editor. Hopefully this better illustrates what I probably didnt come across very well in text.

I concure, I think the first image is boring compared to the second image.
I actually find the shot interesting for several reasons. The framing is cool, as it builds a perfect 'triangle-of-action'. While I would normally agree with the timing comments, I don't think you missed the mark here... as there is still a lot of action going on, and the viewer is still expecting the big impact at the end of the tackle. I also like that the ref & #5 player seem to be paying more attention to you than to the action on the field.
