Hubby and I are traveling to Vegas for Thanksgiving. Anyone have any great photos to share, photo ops to recommend, or would care for a little GTG? We got a fabulous deal on a hotel and will be driving from Phoenix (5 hour drive) which takes us over the Hoover Dam.

Tons of opportunities within the city of course (the outside shows on the strip, Freemont Street, etc.) but if you want a change of pace visit Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area (just outside the city) or The Valley of Fire State Park (~50 miles north of the city).

The last time I was in Vegas I was a little burned-out by day 4 so I left it all behind for the day and went to Zion National Park. This is probably way outside of your scope (3+ hours north) but it was the highlight of my entire trip. Zion is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. It deserves much more than a day trip from Vegas but you can get a taste.
