My pictures turn dark and lose detail when I upload them to the web. As you can see in the foreground of this image there is little detail - it is lost in shadow. On my home monitor the foreground is much lighter and has good detail. Both my home monitors have been calibrated with a Pantone Huey Pro calibration system and I am at a loss as to why this is occurring. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Are you editing in Adobe RGB? If so, you need to save for the web, and convert to sRGB. Otherwise your colors will come out muddied and muted. sRGB is the standard for the web.

If you're using Photoshop, go to View, Proof Setup, and set it to Monitor RGB. Then go and turn on Proof Colors. This will essentially emulate what most non-color managed web browsers will show.

If you're editing in sRGB and save-for-web the difference may be subtle, but if you're in a different colorspace it may be much different.

Actually, I do all of these things already. I edit in RGB, I Proof colors and Convert to Profile sRGB, and my Proof Setup is set to Monitor RGB. Is there anything else I might be missing?

What browser are you using? But if edited and saved for web in sRGB it shouldn't make a difference.
