my submission for the March Free Study was called Week 45, so named for the number of weeks pregnant my subject was, though that may or may not have been apparent to most given the scope of the photo.
For anyone who cares to see it, here's what showed up about 48 hours ago...

That's from Photoshop CS (and i think in earlier versions as well, but i can't remember). Look under file-->automate-->web photo gallery. It's really complicated: you tell it which folder to get the pictures from and what size you want, and then click "OK". It does the rest. it's so easy even i can do it :)
/me thinks maybe he should do a tutorial.

I know, me too! Thanks for the tip -- I've use PS since v2.0, but never really explored many of those features -- I've used it mainly for pre-press production work -- I'll check it out.
2 more foals due anytime...I'm hoping to get some first-moments pix of at least one of them. this colt showed up at about 3am, so i missed it.
Yeah, I noticed that it was dry and seemed quite steady on its feet already. Beautiful foal, though - great markings. Appaloosa sire?

He was up walking within an hour...shoulda used that for the strength challenge :).
Actually both parents are Appies. That mare with him is one as well, but a really dark roan rather than the usual blanket of spots. Our 'family' of Appaloosas is up to 14 now, and the breeding program has been a smashing success. (//www.ceearrapps.com/)

Your web site, www.ceearrapps.com is very nice. You have a nice breeding program there, and it's really great to see that your horses have room to run! And it's nice to see that one of your mares is now living here in Florida. I hope she gets used to the warmer weather down here, though - because she won't be needing that extra fur coat next winter :-).

actually i can't take any credit for it - it's my former father-in-law's site and breeding program. I'm just the occasional contributor via photographs and manure shovelling. not sure yet which is the more crucial contribution though. I'll pass your comments on to Bill :)

The colt has really long legs compared to it's body. I didn't realize they were like that. I guess it's sothat they can run soon after they are born. Rignt?
How beautiful and precious! Thank you for sharing! My friend Gale just had to put one of her horses down due to complications from surgury and I sent her the link to try to help brighten her day.

Being a fellow manure shovel contributor at Gale's barn and also the occasional picture taker, I can pretty much guarantee you that shoveling the sh!t is more important, at least this time around. :)
