Team United Kingdom!!! for pulling into a commanding lead in the first week of the DPC Olympics III-A!
They struck gold this week with all 5 counted scores being over the member's previous average. Mark-A, Chalice, loriprophoto, LadyTara, and Soulman1978 all contributed to the team's 2.7108 point gain, with LadyTara scoring nearly a full point (0.9615) higher than her starting average of 4.9449.
Second and third place went to USA Northwest and Team Mystery with gains of 2.2001 and 1.8866 respectively.
In all 10 of the 16 teams posted gains, while 6 posted losses. The team that dropped the most was the Islanders with a drop of -1.8014.
Do not be discouraged Islanders fans! This is the first week of competition and the scores should really shuffle following next week's results.

Canada III is in 6th and USA-NE moved down to #7.
I took everyone's previous 10 challenges as of 9/14/2008 (or less if they've not entered that many) to come up with their starting average for the DPC.
That average is the base average for the entire season. It does not update throughout.
Each week, each user's score is compared to this average and their gain (or loss) is calculated. If a user does not enter, then a fixed penalty of -2.0000 is considered for that player.
Next, of the 8 players on each team, the TOP 5 gain/loss are aggregated into that team's overall score. So up to 3 players can miss a week without the -2.0000 coming into play.
The team's gain/loss will be accumulated over the 12 weeks of the season. So this week, UK was up 2.7108, but if they end up with a down week next week, they come down and the Islanders could come up with a positive week.
The main thing is to encourage us all to shoot our best each week and try to beat our average.
That's awesome, although I think we will struggle this week as we have barely enough challenge entries to make the flat 5 I think :( Ahh well onwards and upwards!
