OK I'm on my travels again and will be making a business trip to Boston MA at the end of October (25-30). I have most of Sunday 26th and possibly Wed 29th (not confirmed) free, so I'm planning on hiring a car and heading out with the camera somewhere.
I don't mind traveling up to 100 miles to find something special, so where do you recommend?
Landscapes, especially seascapes, lighthouses, rock headlands around dawn then maybe some beautiful fall colors, rivers, waterfalls would be ideal.
There are a lot of good photo ops around Boston, I would Recommend the Cape where bear_music lives.
Possibly Rockport for a nice sea side village
Drive up the eastern seaboard coast and hit Maine like TJ suggested for Nubble lighthouse
Or for a easy drive with a few photo ops, travel to Sudbury MA for Longfellows Wayside Inn.
Hope these help, and if you are interested in a quick GTG let me know and I will try and drum up a few locals. Most of the Mass Waterfalls are a longer drive than an hour away, if you are willing to do a bit more driving let me know and I will see what waterfalls I can get for you to fit the bill.

Hey Rich, some great ideas there, many thanks. I'm not too worried about the driving, if there's something out there which is worth getting to, then I'll drive all night if need be. Last trip I went to SF and drove out to Yosemite, Bodie, Mono Lake and Death Valley. Nearly 1500 miles in 3 days. So an hour or three is not a problem ;-)

Maine sounds excellent too. I checked out Biddeford on google, looks really cool. I'll gather a few more ideas together and then work out whats possible and whats best. If we can get a few locals including bear_music out then I'd be up for that too.
There are some with some photos there for Mass, NH, and Vermont. They give you the town and some half way decent directions to them normally. Hope this helps you in your journey. A word of warning however, some of the areas the waterfalls will be may have a dusting of snow, if in NH or VT.
That late in October you may want to focus on the seacost suggestions that you've been given. Although I'd like to recomend my neck-of-the-woods in NH by that time the colorful foliage will have come and gone. Too bad you weren't going to be here about two-three weeks earlier.
If you're lucky there may still be some color in the southern parts of New England though. The coast is great anytime of year. As already mentioned you may want to contact Bear_Musicto see what the conditions on Cape Cod will be like at that time.

The fall colors would have been superb, trouble is the conference I'm attending is fixed at this time every year, and every year I just miss it ;-(
Color is past peak for North, Central and Southwest NH. In those areas there are still leaves on the trees but they're into the rust-like colors not the vivid yellows, oranges and reds. There may still be some in the Southeast/Coastal areas. Maybe Hot_pixel. Can speak for the seacost area of NH

Sorry Lost track of this thread for a while, I am not near the seacoast sadly thought I travel to it quite often. The rains we had in the last day or 2 have really done some damage to the fall color beauty. There is still a good amount of color in Mass, but as for NH I think its pretty close to a bust through out the state due to the rain.
