I am facinated by the photoshop technique if making real things look miniature. I tried it with this photo of my friend and was wondering if anyone else does this and has any pointers for doing it better?

I've tried it a few times, this is the only one I posted . It's a really neat effect, with the right shot, trick is figuring out what the right shot might be. My problem with the technique so far is that I'm not exactly a master of using gradients, so I tend to be hit or miss placing the demarcation of blur/sharp in just the right spot.

I aspire to some day own a tilt/shift lens, so I can do it for real. :) One needs to have dreams...

If you are using Photoshop, you can edit the gradient and move the demarcation zone around by:

1. Highlight the layer/layer mask containing the gradient
2. In Channels, highlight and make visible the gradient
3. Go to the menu Image > Adjust > Curves (or Levels, or whatever) and adjust the gradient.
