Hi everyone. I have been watching this site for about a month now, and finding myself addicted enough to join up and take the plunge. I'm REALLY impressed at just how much you can learn about photography here, about how amazing you all are as photographers, and at the fantastic sense of community. So today, I finally gathered some courage and entered a challenge, which to me means that I'm now hooked and ready to join the party. I look forward to talking to you all, and to seeing more and more great photos. I only wish I had more time - do you all find that you can spend literally HOURS pouring through photos, profiles, forums, etc etc etc?

You might be able to get the Site council to change it.

Welcome! Look under the menu item Help > Contact Us > DPC -- General Inquiry and submit a ticket with your request -- it usually takes a couple of days to put through a name change, and we will only do it once in six months.
While you are checking out the menus, make sure you look at the tutorials, especially those on preparing images for challenges, and check the rule set for the challenge you are entering to make sure you are clear on what editing is allowed -- an early DQ can be discouraging (though educational!).
Welcome aboard! Just wear a thick skin in the challenges and you'll like this place. Don't mind the empty beer cans, just step over them and pull up a chair. (I think it's Slippy's turn to clean up again, isn't it?)

I have now spent 2 hours sitting in front of this site...again....and really must go and do some work! (although, loosely, you could say this IS my work...). I've updated my profile, have a look if you are interested. When I come back I'll join up as a member so I can really do some seriously challenges and upload a portfolio.
This is way too addictive..... ;-)
Welcome Trish! Leaping in with both feet really is the only way to go here. Enjoy, have fun and as you've already noticed, you will learn, whether you want to or not.
