I have been waiting all week to show how I took this shot. Kinda surprised that it did not do better. Camera was set on a tripod on top of my wifes "Lazy Susan" (A spinning service tray) The ball was attached to a coat hanger mounted on a piece of wood also attached to the same "Lazy Susan". I set the camera to timer mode and spun the wheel. The camera was set to macro on the ball. The blur is the room spinning behind the ball. The advanced editing allowed me to remove the wire attaching the ball, in photoshop...thats pretty well it
It would be really great if you could go into your Portfolio, and update the "Photographer's Comments" to include the exact same information you put in this post.
That way, when somebody goes to look at your shot, the info will be right there.
(I'm a big fan of photographer's comments, and seeing "N/A" so much is a real bummer.)
P.S. Good shot; I had a very similar idea, but decided not to pursue it. I was going to attach a ball to my tripod head with a coat hanger and then spin the camera/head combo to achieve a similar effect. I think your approach was very effective. Adding some motion blur to the ball itself would've probably helped a lot.
Yeah, I think some motion in the ball would have made it a better shot as well. Possibly getting the ball to rotate slowly as well on the coat hanger somehow? Probaby not the easiest thing to set up.
Great shot though. It's amazing the things people use on here to make their shots work. I can't say thats an idea I'd have as how to set something like that up.
Edit: And its a great picture for this time of year, w/ the start of baseball season.
I was going to do something similar for my pic
but I goofed off until the last minute and instead hand-held my camera on top of a toy plane while I flew it past my fishtank :)
Great job on the edit, it looks excellent! I will have to steal that setup for the future, heh heh heh.
