Scott, I think it came out very well! Conventional wisdom says a centered subject is dull compositionally, but in your photo it is offset by the silhouettes (in my opinion, anyway). Well done.

A nice shot, but I would disagree. I think the empty space on the left is rather overwhelming. A crop to a different aspect ratio might help a bit.
Its weird, my monitor must be calibrated weird. Because it is bright on mine, but when I print at costco, it is very dark. Hardly visible.
The problem may not be calibration. A monitor has a much wider color gamut than a the printing process does, so something with a lot of subtle tonal differences may look worse when printed. You may need to tweak the colors a bit to get it to print as nicely as it looks on screen.

What colour space is the image in when you send it for printing? What does the lab expect it to be?
A lot of labs expect the colour space to be sRGB (for example). The colour numbers will be interpreted as sRGB (in this example) regardless of the colour space the image really is in. This leads to colour shifts when printing.
