Been setting up the new 6" Newtonian and tried to get some pictures hand held against the lens, got a couple of decent shots but really need to set the cam on a tripod.
Other than desturating and resizing this is straight out of the cam ...
And this is a crop from 100%, focus is way off but they really are craters on the right (aren't they?)
edit ... they were taken tonight, the moon was full but the angle of the cam on the scope kind of lost a bit ;)
You might also be interested in a program called Registax used to take a "stack" of astronomical images, and perform tricks to enhance the contrast and detail.
Thanks for the links Butterfly & GeneralE I've seen results from Registax. I need to practice more and set the cam on the tripod then I'll have a play with stacking. Will probably have to wait another month for a cloud free sky though!

Not sure if you want tackle putting the tripod and came next to the scope, dont get me wrong it can be done for moon shots, but a few adapters can make a huge difference...
Thanks for the adapter info jab, I had been looking at Eagle eye optics. Am looking for an adapter that holds the cam, I don't really want to hang the cam off the side of the scope for any length of time.

Take a look at thislink. "The Lunar 100". I thought it was pretty cool and some of the listed lunar features can even be seen with the naked eye. I'm waiting for my very own telescope to arrive, 4.5 inches, but better than nothing.....can't wait!!!

your welcome, if you are worried about putting pressure on the camera lens, then you may want to try this adapter
The ScopeTronix EZ-Pix™ Digital Camera Holder , its just below halfway down on this page.
I used it with my casio and Sony 707 camera's until I got different adapters. It takes the weight off the lens and puts it on the tripod thread and eyepeice.
