even though the theme is chaos, i imagine what will be admired is something along the lines of organized chaos, or controlled chaos. that is, having a chaotic subject or subjects, but controlling how the image is framed, composed and captured while still depicting the chaos of the moment you have chosen to preserve. taking a photo of a bunch of your kids toys scattered on the floor, though likely a chaotic scene, is not necessarily going to make an interesting photograph. unless, of course, through your approach to the image, you give it meaning.
i know i'm being incredibly vague here, but i guess what i'm saying is there's a difference between a snaphot and a photograph. while the theme is chaos, this doesn't mean that snapshots are what is being asked for. the nutorious "voters" don't like snapshots, and i can't say i blame them...
Anyone else struggling with the obvious dilemma: the notorious 'voters' of course hate chaotic images ... ?

Not only would voters not like it, I didn't either - no shot I took was visually appealing AND depicted chaos. I decided to take a purposefully creative approach - normal scene but photographically chaotic -- yes, yes I know it makes no sense - at least I had fun.
This is one challenge I'm pretty sure I'll score low. I entered anyway, becasue I think it's a great photo. Ok, well maybe a little below the "great" level...but definitely very good! I'm going to be very interested in the comments.
Well, I'm gonna bite the bullet and give this one a shot. I finally came up with the perfect subject! Hahaha! Now the trick is making the chaos look good (I tend to struggle with that aspect on all my images anyways)! ;)
This one will certainly be tricky. It may be like the Irony challenge a few months ago when only a handful of people knew what irony, in fact, was. I suspect that we'll get various types of images:
1) people shots in which crazy situations are taking place and a 'chaotic' feel is present
2) abstract shots in which no apparent pattern is present
3) shots in which fractals are communicated in some way
Okay, just submitted my shot. Probably won't score too hot, but that's about what I expect due to the trickiness of the challenge. Plus it doesn't look like an "Oh my heck! That is a ribbon winner shot." Then again, DPC has surprised me before. I just know that I am pleased with the shot and not afraid to claim it as my own, because it completely fits my style!
