The old Augusta Canal is a very neat area for some photos and the Savannah River adjacent to the city offers a few nice shots as well. You might also go east across the river to Aiken, SC (about 20 minutes) where many of the thoroughbreds spend the fall and winter, there are several polo grounds, and lot of tree lined dirt roads to protect the horses hooves rather than paved roads. Also just west of Augusta a bit is Washington, GA, beautiful old antebellum homes and a recently restored 19th century hotel. There also is a very old Golf Club in Aiken that is very pictureseque.
