This is Lindsey. We shot her session on Thursday. I just got finished editing and wanted to share a few.
The softball shots.... I ran my mouth & told her I could make the ball look like it was on fire while I was posing her. I was thinking I'd do it in pp. Well, every attempt looked like a silly cartoon...
...so I got a similar softball and set it on fire! Gasoline! Oh heck yeah! Then replaced the one she was holding in the pic with the one I'd burned. :D
Great portraits, Cindi! Are the ones you posted the ones you added the burning softball to? The flames just don't look right - even if they are real. They seem to washed out. If I was going to do it (add flaming balls using real images taken afterword), I would light the gas-soaked ball, shoot a few, extinguish it right away, soak it again, light it, shoot several more. I would try and get a good variety of flame patterns and intensities to choose the best one for the image. On the other hand, I would have probaby just added the flames to the original in post. Can you post an original, unflamed version and let me have a wack at it?

The edges look weird where I cut it out from the background I'd shot the flaming ball against. I think sharpening hurt it too. Here is the original, lets ya see how much work went into that final image :p
Well it was easier to use your already expertly edited version and flame it up. Just a quick job - I "borrowed" the flames from Jenesis' ribbon winning fireball.
Anyway - great job on the portraits, Cindi. And thanks for letting me play. ;-) I left my general editing steps in the comments of my edited version.
Am I the only one who's thinking "why is idnic posting entries that would work well for "Hot" on several levels?" :)
By the way, "idnic," at the DC GTG yesterday, we were discussing who was really like they are on DPC, and I fessed up that idnic is one of my ghost accounts. To think everyone believed all of those shots were really self-portraits. Thanks for posing for me all those times!

The mirror is a big thick one that I ripped off the wall of my guest bathroom. You know, the kind the builders put in that cover 1/2 the wall and have a beveled edge? I now have a nice smaller framed mirror in there, so the big mirror became a studio prop.
And yes, that is another of my homemade backgrounds. I'm up to about 10 of them. I'm loving the versatility, I have something to work with almost any outfit now. :)

I have made a few homemade backdrops now too, but havent used them... :) I am going to make a brown/beige one next. I need to start getting more than 1 muslin at a time though... seems all that dye goes to waste.
