I rented the Canon 10-22 for the wedding I did, but didn't get to use it much since our outside shoot was cut short by rain. The lighting in the church and reception locations was just too low to use it much. It must go back tomorrow and I didn't want the rental to go to waste, so I took it out for a bit today. We had a really nice combination of sun and clouds, so I tried to use that to my advantage. I didn't have time to go all the way down to Cincy, but got some of my hometown.
Love that lens! It may even be my most used lens, very nice for nature and landscape photography.
Our landscapes around here aren't the "big" views I remember from our trip out west. If I lived in that area, I'd have me one of these lenses in a heartbeat. It's still one that's on my short list.

The wide angle lens shouldn't only be used in places that have have big views, although it is good for that use. The wide angle lens is great to give deep perspective - with a focal point in the foreground and the scene in the background.

That's actually backwards, Judy. Where the really "big views" are, the 10-22 can actually be TOO wide. What it's REALLY good for, landscape wise, is opening up smaller spaces :-)

I had to send the lenses back today. The 70-200 is now officially next on the list for my purchase. I used Lens Pro to Go for the rental and was extremely pleased. Not cheap, but certainly not the most expensive. I really liked that I could reserve the rental so I knew it would be available. Very good customer service. The 10-22 was fun, but I would use the 70-200 a lot more I think.
Maybe I should have entered THIS one in the free study, and my entry is tanking. Oh well, comments are always welcome.
I was just thinking how cool it would have been to have this lens for the fireworks this weekend. Too late now though as I already sent them back. I was offered an extension of the rental for a reasonable amount, but chose not to. If I would have thought about the fireworks, I might have decided differently. Oh well.
Glad you could get the lenses you needed. Sorry we couldn't help out, we just don't have enough inventory yet to satisfy everyone. I would have much rather gotten that plug than the other guys.

I do understand and I wanted to give you first shot at it :) The big thing for me, since it was a wedding job, was being able to reserve. I'll be sure to check you out next time as well, as I always want to support other photogs here when I can.
