Our annual trek to New Hampshire is coming up next week and I'll be in the Moultonborough area. Unfortunately our trip this year will not have us there over a weekend, just during the week.
I'm looking to see if anyone would be interested in going to Goose Pond, early, on Wednesday (9th) or Thursday (10th) next week. I want to get there for sunrise and see if I can't catch some early morning mist and still water reflections. It's been several years since I've been to this location, but if my memory serves me right, the pond is of a fairly good size, with some standing dead timber at one end, with good size boulders in some places on the shoreline, and all surrounded by trees.
Pretty sure it's a short hike from the Beach area at Wellington State Park and I'm thinking we can park there and walk in. Sunrise is a few minutes past 5am, and probably want to start hiking in 30-40 minutes prior to that. Spend a couple hours shooting and call it a day.

Your memory serves you well. Wellington and Goose Pond are about 3 miles from my house. Your description of the pond is spot on. There's actually a parking area at the trailhead across the street from Wellington. I would have liked to join you but the work schedule won't allow. Don’t forget to check out the boat launch at Wellington also; it can be a nice spot to shoot and because of federal monies involved in it’s development it’s open 24hrs/day...

You live in a beautiful part of the country. We love visiting that area every summer (my wife has family in NH). The area around the Loon center is a nice walk also (as long as you have a bucket of bug spray on!!!).

Hey Del...if you're still around, could you tell me - how long of a hike is it from the trailhead to the pond? I'm thinking it's around 20 minutes or so. Yes/No? Thanks. :-)
20 Minutes is a good target Barry. Be sure that you turn right at the fork in the trail a short distance from the trailhead. If you go left you'll be on the Elwell trail to Mt. Cardigan; a much longer hike than you are planning for:-). I believe the trails are well marked.
