hello......since orange is a color that is sometimes hard to tell between red and true orange. My shot IS true orange and not red, as I have been told with a comment....I have two monitors here at home that I check between for color management reasons. On both monitors displayed same photo, but did change a bit from the true color of my object. Many monitors will display a different hue of orange. I hope that voters take that in consideration when making a vote.....Also, if anyone has been dealing with digital photos they should know that color management is somewhat frustrating at times and that color will display different hues on other devices, including print outs....So, I hope that folks may not mis-vote due this natural problem with computers and color management....Sometimes, it's hard to shoot something of a certain color and come out that way it looks in reality....that's just the reality of digital photography and old faction 35mm. just ask some graphic artist for any magazine or advertisement. They would tell you they would go for days to get it right for the product. It's something to think about when voting. Thank you.
I have commented on several photos that I thought weren't really orange (some red and some browns), but also mentioned that it was close enough to let slide. If you are one of those, I did not remove any points. However, if you orange is blue......
I just get marked down coz the image is not totally orange :( My score just keeps sliding downhill! 3 comments so far and no mention about the image not being "orange as the primary color". Hmmmm... Maybe the people who mark low, and i'm speaking for all here, should explain why they think it doesnt deserve a better mark.
Since there has been so much discussion about "orange" and what defines "orange", it is my understanding as the challenge rules suggested, Orange is defined as "any" range of colors between red and yellow. Now, if you look at the fruit, an orange is not really orange either, sometimes it is yellow with a tint of green and even at its ripest point it is not a true vivid orange. I think this challenge left alot of perception of what is orange or a hue of orange is also exceptable. Being so strict as to what some may define as orange is left open for interpretation. Look in a crayon box at the different shades of orange. I keep an open mind, if it has an orange hue or orange cast, in my opinion it meets the challenge. IMHO
Just finished voting. There are a several that just look plain red or yellow (on whatever monitor I'm on) and some where you have to look hard to find "any range" of orange.
I am just going to start a second wave of voting/commenting and agree that some leeway has to be given on the "orange" colour thing, but to me if it is obviously yellow/red or even brown then to me it doesn't fit the range between red and yellow and so doesn't fit the challenge.
Not scoring to great either. Hovering around the 4.5-4.6 mark. Just gone downhill since I started DP Challenge!!!
I have my monitor calibrated using iOne and I did see a few that seemed more of a red than any orange I have seen. Now if I could afford to upgrade to the print profiler too...ahh dreams.
