I think that if we could have some auto buttons in the Sort Collection it would be very helpful. Currently when you click on Sort Collection you have to manually move each image where you want it but I think if we had a few buttons it would make things mush easier.
For example I would like to have the following buttons:
> Alphabetical Ascending <
> Alphabetical Descending<
> Numerical Ascending <
> Numerical Descending <
> Date Uploaded <
Also because it's hard to know if SC ever see's these suggestions can I get a response from an SC member just to let me know. Thanks
That's a great suggestion, one of many ways that the portfolio could be improved. The whole thing is in serious need of enhancement in my opinion. It's nice when improvements are made, but they always seem relatively minor, and useful improvements like this never seem to be considered.
I'm pretty sure Langdon (eventually) reviews everything in the Web Site Suggestions forum ... he and Drew are working on some kind of (possibly) major overhaul or revision for the site, so I doubt any significant modifications will be made before then.
Ordering by image number and by date uploaded should yield the same result, unless you want it to update when you replace an image with an re-edited version.
Currently, the portfolio images seem to be set up with most recent uploaded last. On your profile page, you can sort the listing of images by date uploaded and a couple of other criteria by clicking on the arrows next to the sort description in the tool bar over the collection.
Not to hijack your thread, but I would like to see "views" "comments" "fav's" under each thumb in the "Portfolio", or maybe in the "Manage Portfolio" window, but some will say that it would bias the way people look thru a portfolio. Having that info with the images in the "Manage Portfolio" window would make it easier to go through and eliminate the shots that are not getting much activity to make room for newer or better images.
I like your sorting suggestions. That is a good suggestion, even if the sort portfolio images options were in the "Preferences" window so that it would allow you to sort the order that viewers see your thumbs in your portfolio. A sort manually feature would be great too, so that you could drag the thumbs into the order that you want viewers to see them.
Yes, what I had in mind was an iPhoto sort of system, where you could just open your portfolio, and drag any photo to a different spot in the portfolio, by using the "hold and drag" method, and then, release it where you want it to be in the order of the thumbnails.
