I’m having a break from the forums for awhile but I will still enter some challenges. I will be turning off all the forums other then the DPL and side challenge in the hope that the DPL will return.
This place use to be fun and I had great enjoyment in reading most forums with some delightful and funny people here but recently the place has gone downhill in my opinion.
There seems to be an element that have infiltrated the site and are hell-bent on being disruptive and want to polarize the community, they make me angry and I simply don’t want anger in my life at the moment. I recognize and acknowledge there right to free speech but basically if I want to here a sermon I will go to church not to DPChallenge.
I’m not trying to be melodramatic as I have had quite a few breaks from the site in my time but this is the first time I have announced why.
I hope everyone keeps enjoying the site and remember just as you have a right to free speech we all have a right to turn you off.
As long as I've been here there have been waves of turmoil followed by periods of calm.
It seems as if folks get bored so find something to stir, then either it runs its course or "the authorities" step in and things settle for a while... until someone gets bored again.

I don't understand people who do this...there are thousands of members on this site and I am sure there are plenty of them who don't ever post in the forums...do you ever see anybody getting upset by that?
We each have a choice about what we do and don't take part in. When the site is going through an 'argumentitive' phase you can almost guarantee that someone will start a thread exactly like this one! Me, I just carry on enjoying the bits of the site that interest me and wait for the 'troubles' to pass.

Since you're already in such foul humor, I will point out that it should be "USED", not "USE". This place USED to be fun. :)
With all that ribbons, keegbow became such a stressed man... I have three (no blue) and I forgave DPC... HAH.
If I had "a" blue, I would hug everyone here as my brothers and sisters, forget the forums... "rants" and "personal life"s meant to be boring sometimes.

In my 3+ years at DPC I've only noticed rare religious threads until recently. Now there's quite a glut of them. It seems like a mini religiuos revival is happening, and many people want to jump on the Jesus-Wagon and toot their horn. Or just toot their Jesus-horn if they've always been on the wagon.
I watch the reality TV show "Big Brother", as a thermometer of the USA, so I might have a little warning before Canada is invaded and I can stock up on decent beer. There's usually only one Jesus-Praiser per season, but this last season there was an entire alliance calling themselves "Team Jesus". I'm wondering what's going on with the USA.
A couple of possible reasons for the phenomenon:
- The falling American dollar and recession leading to an impending sense of doom.
- Economic stimulus cheques from the government.
- The upcoming presidential election.
- Global warming.
- Kick-backs from priests/ministers for recruitment.
- Fear of seeing Islam become a powerful religion in the US. (Thanks Jac)

That's five reasons, not a couple. :) Of course if the marriage laws get changed, the definition of a "couple" may have to be altered as well as the definition of "marriage".
I would not look to Big Brother for a gauge on the US Culture... also it seems like most of the threads here have been religious, but not necessarily Christian. Anti-Christian is more like it around here. And that's fine. Those who crave darkness hate the light anyway.

Sure there is. Christianity IS peaceful. Show me anywhere where the teachings of Christ suggest otherwise.
A person wrongly acting "in the name of" something does not automatically attribute their actions to that cause they claim to be acting for. Especially when it CLEARLY goes against the tenets of that cause.
Abortion, for example, is a horrible murder of a child.
However, some moron killing an abortionist "in the name of Christianity" is NOT acting out the principles and teachings of Christianity. So they can claim what they want, but their action does not carry over to Christianity except by the most ignorant of people.
Islam, however, does teach violence and murder, yet claims to be of Peace.
Yeah, something about the "Religion of Peace*" just scares the heck out of thinking, rational people.

Not sure what relevance Matthew 7:13 has here. A verse misquoted so many times.
And a lot of that is Catholic, not Christian. However again, if the action goes against the teachings of Christianity, then no matter who does it, it's not "Christian". Pretty much common sense there.
