When I purchased the 40D the software I was using would not read the RAW files so I was forced to purchase new software and CS3 is the way I went. I have never really used PS of any version/flavor before. So, in the past three weeks I have done a boatload of reading - help files, books, tutorials, etc. to try and learn/understand PS and hopefully work up a workflow comparable to the one I had for my old software.
My question/request is, is there someone infinitely more familiar with PS and how it works that would be willing to read the workflow I have compiled and provide me with some feedback? It is 6 pages written in outline form so it is not solid text. Some of it is description, some technique, some step by step. It is currently in Word format.
6 pages of workflow!! Crikey, I'd never get any photography done..
I use CS3 and my default flow is:
Open in ACR, possibly tweak WB and/or Exposure, remove any default sharpening.
Open in CS3.
Adjust levels, curves, saturation if needed.
Flatten.
Reduce Noise
Smart Sharpen
Resize
Smart Sharpen.
Done.

Good place to start with the RAW end...Real World ACR, by Bruce Fraser. that can "automate/preset" your normal files, have special lighting situations, etc.

Ah right, I understand now. Yes I was the same when I first used it, but you get used to it very quickly. And if you have a lot of similar steps to perform on many files it can be worth recording the steps as an "action", which you can then run automatically on images, saving you time.
