Would it be possible to offer a different color or font, or both on old threads appearing on the most recent posts page???? It surely would be nice to notice immediately that the thread may be as old as six years! I know I should look at the dates, but for some reason I usually miss this. I can't figure out how, as I usually run a font so big that you'd think I'd see it. But it sure would be nice for the server to be able to push out a different color... say pale yellow, for the old threads that are dredged up. I'm not a HTML person so I don't know if this is even possible.
I think this is a good idea. I was going to offer a suggestion that would have threads automatically locked after six months or something, but I don't know of any site that doesn't allow thread necromancy.

Doesn't seem to be much interest. I guess I'll have to leave the damn post-it note on the monitor telling me to check the date before posting.

Given the recent trend of people registering and then bumping an old thread on the same day, I'd like to see something done here also.
I know it's been mentioned that somebody may run across an old DPC forum thread from a search or older link somewhere and then register to comment...but looking at the last few times this has happened it's almost like there's someone out there just creating new accounts and bumping threads for the fun of it.
Not a major deal I guess, but it's fun to complain about. :-D

Some kind of "this thread is ancient" warning in red, similar to the "report a post" warning text and colour, would be helpful to newer users, I think.

In addition to any entertainment value, they provide an instant assessment of someone's level of attention (if not education).
For example, how long has the coinage "necrobump" been in common usage? I don't recall running across it previously, and I check out a lot of threads (here, not elsewhere).
