I have a question. I have a contrast choice on my monitor. They are custom, text, internet, game, sport, movie and dynamic contrast. Depending on which I choose, my images look completely different. If I choose dynamic contrast the whites are whiter and the image seems to have a much more brilliant look to it. When I choose internet, the image really looks yellowed and almost muddy. Custom looks okay as long as I choose to adjust the contrast and brightness to maximum. What do you use, because in post processing the image looks different depending upon your contrast setting, so you would adjust according to your screen.

If all you care about is how things look on your screen then pick the setting you like. If you care about how things you upload will look on other folk's screens or want to know more accurately how pictures on the Internet were intended to look then the 'Internet' setting is probably the one you want.

If you have a hardware calibration tool and run it you will see that it tones down your display similar to what you described for your 'Internet' setting.

During hardware monitor calibration, contrast is the first adjustment made during the process. That is because contrast affects overall how all the colors display as well. When contrast is off then so are colors.

My work monitor is calibrated and I can tell when starting up, the moment the calibration profile is loaded, because the desktop background colors change, becoming noticeably less intense and saturated. More accurate is usually less pleasing to the eye.

Absolutely true! When nothing else matters then "pleasing to the eye" is the best choice. However, you need "more accurate" when preparing files for others or for reviewing files by others on the Internet.
