As I noted in this thread, I'm getting tired of beinging repeatedly assaulted by people running red lights.

In an effort to turn potential disaster into photo-opportunity, I'm going to try and catch as many as I can during the next month and post them here -- everyone else is welcome to as well.

Yesterday:

Our direction already has the green light as the van is just entering the intersection, accelerating to get onto a freeway ramp.

I'm sorry. I'd like to help, but I only have 18 gb of memory cards and that's not enough to shoot all the red light runners in Miami that I see in a day. Often, there will be up to five cars that will run through some intersections after the light turns red. I would need video to get them all.

Running red lights (a.k.a. "one more car won't matter") just seems to be a way of life here.

One advantage of my non-dSLR is that I have to just push one button to start recording video -- I just haven't figured out how to extract a single frame yet.

Maybe you could organize some retired folks to set up lawn chairs and camcorders at strategic intersections -- local news should eat it up.

I plan to do this at the stop sign by our house. Maybe one in ten slows at it, one in a hundred actually does stop. Even oncoming traffic doesn't matter, they just make THEM stop! We asked the city about even painting a stop line and they said there's not enough accidents to warrant it. WE cut back the tree branches so that the sign is even visible.

If we ever get nice weather I'll spend a day with a lawn chair and my camera.
