I haven't entered a challenge for the longest time and then just couldn't decide which image to enter.
Here are the two that I didn't enter and would really appreciate it if anyone currently voting the Parallel Lines challenge would have a look and tell me what score you'd give these two images and, best of all, any comments you might make.
Please do go ahead and add the comments as comments ON the images so I can easily find and access them in the furure.
I'm posting these now rather than after results are out because I'd like to get people to score/ comment them as they vote for real.
8c.jpg is totally awesome. "10" I like the tone. Excellent contrast. Maybe cut a bit off the very bottom. I don't know which one you entered but this one is very good.
9b.jpg "9" maybe upgrade to "10" right on the border. Also excellent tone. Cropping would make a different here. Maybe a bit on the bottom also.
I agree with Faidoi about 8c but I don't care so much for the overall effect of 9b - it seems to lack a central point of view for me, the message isn't as clear
Well my actual entry is scoring below 6 so I may have chosen unwisely but I went with the one that spoke to me most strongly. I did ask input from a few friends (mostly not DPCers though a couple of DPCers) and they were mixed - some definitely liked 8c best though a couple agreed with my entry choice... more went for 8. But I just liked my entry better overall.
It's great to get comments again.
After leaving several hundred I am pleased to be getting some in return!

I like very much 9b, while I just do not find interest in the 8c.
I do not find 8c particularly attractive mostly because the columns do not stand out. They overlap two by two and, in addition to that, they also break down a background which is not uniform but rich of detail.
Also, large part of the ground is over-exposed.
Basically, two of the three planes of the photo, the two which take more space, do not play a good "music" in it.
9b is way better. I really like the mood of the photo.
The duotone tonality is very interesting but, most importantly, the choice of the perspective is very relevant to the overall result.
There is, in fact, an imaginary line which drives the viewer from the front of the photo up to the exit in the very back.
The eyes can lovely walk all the way giving you the impression that you really are there.
The same "problems" of the columns which were in the other picture are here insignificant because those columns do not play such an important role any more and, also, the contrast with the background or even better handled.
The only "defect" which I can see in this photo is an unfortunate ray of light (or a reflection in the lenses) which partially deletes the shadow of a column in the mid-right part of the picture.
However, a very minimal fault in a photo which was very well composed.

Wonderful detailed feedback... I don't mind how much everyone disagrees - I just am delighted to get the feedback on how each individual sees the images.

PS As you were commenting I was adding the photographers comment detail - that weird patch of light was a raindrop on the lens - my bad - I didn't think it would impact the image but it was a large enough drop that it did...
I could photoshop it out now, but didnt because these were images I was considering entering into PL.

Re black and white it's actually desaturated and then I've added a sepia tone by colourising to one hue.
Pure black and white seemed a touch harsh to convey the warm light.
