Hey guys I was looking for cool places in MI, TN. Anybody have experience with these two places at all?

In MI, I'd like to be around the great lake, and in TN I'd like to hangout around the mountains, but I'm totally open for ideas.

Ummm, I can make some suggestions for MI, but which of the Great Lakes did you mean? Lake Michigan? Lake Superior? Lake Huron? Lake Erie? All of those border Michigan and account for hundreds, if not thousands of miles of Michigan shoreline. Maybe you should say where in MI you're going? What kinds of things do you like? Kayaking? Hiking? sitting on a tour bus with old folks?

Munising, MI has Pictured Rocks national park and many water falls nearby. The Porcupine Mountains are also in the UP. In the lower part of the state I would stick to the west side in general. The state is full of great scenery, but much of the best of it is along the Lake Michigan shoreline IMHO. Traverse City has many great things around it. Traverse bay is beautiful, the sleeping bear dunes are right next to it, and just south of the city is Interlochen Arts Academy/Camp where students and great performers come from all over the world to perform in a beautiful setting (if you go here, check their website for performances while you're in town and you might want to catch a show). Or you could just travel the coast in search of light houses.

That's the top of my list of places worth visiting with a camera in Michigan, but that's just the start of a very long list as there is an abundance of natural beauty all over the state.

One more thing, if you go to the eastern UP then Tahquamenon Falls is also a must see place. There's also the Mackinac bridge, but you won't avoid that if you travel from lower to upper Michigan.

Coming down by way of Chattanooga?? We have a million mountains :) I will suggest also a trip to Cades Cove, you can't beat it for scenery :) Here is a pano I took there:
