Whens the last time there was one? and anyone up for one in the near future? like begining of May? Banff is melting, might be fun or something more local?
I too love johnstons canyon... view when you get to the top is super (at the ink pots) and the way up has great spots for pics... I'm liking this idea more and more.
Most of the other major falls within driving distance were still frozen up big time 1 to 2 weeks ago. Ive been doing a lot of day trips over the past few weeks and The natural bridge in Field is nice but froze up pretty good, Sunwapta Falls are still froze up pretty solid and its uber slippery getting to them, Athabasca falls are also froze up pretty good with still just a trickle of water coming through. The only ones I haven't been to is Johnson's Canyon so Im not sure about them as it has been nice out but the upper and lower falls are still shadowed pretty good from the sun...
I have no idea where you are talking about, but I might be up for coming out if I can.
Johnson's Canyon is about 15min NW of Banff, there is 2 main sets of falls where the first set is kinda small which may be a little on the uneventful side but the upper falls are quite a bit bigger/higher so they could be cool as even if its just it is mostly ice on a nice day the ice will glow a cool blue :) for some sick reason I don't have a shot of the upper falls.
Lovely spot :) I worked at Eisenhower Junction for 5 months (many eons ago) and spent a lot of time hiking around the area. Sighhh... the good old days :)

What would you guys think of May 10th (second Saturday)... I'm sure buy then most of the snow will be gone (I hope... as I look out the window and wonder)
So havn't really had many responses to this... but I'm going to be going anyway :) weather is supposed to be around the 16ish range that weekend so it's going to be quite nice for a spring hike...
