I sent a file which was about 2500x1500 and when the person got it, it was sized down to 320x240 at 100kb. I dont understand why it's resizing. I made a collage and he must have though I was a moron because he went to print a 11x14 image and it was distorted!
I attached it as a file and sent from hotmail to microsoft outlook. Our work email (micro. outlook) doesnt allow photos inside the email, they can only be viewed as attachments. So I dont know what is going on. When I view it on my work laptop it shows 2500x1500. Maybe he is doing something to it.
I know that when using hotmail and you attach a file it has a drop down box so you can choose photo or file, always choose file. I have found that when you attach using the photo dropdown it resizes the image, when attaching using the file drop down it does nothing to the file and sends it the way it is on our computer.
Agreed. Make sure you attach it as a file, not as a photo.
Most services tend to cater to the less technically inclined who would most likely share full resolution photos from their dozen+ megapixel cameras, when infact the recipient is only going to view the shots on their PC's.
Also is it possible that my 2500x1500 image can't be printed as a 11x14? The guy he is having print it told him it would cut off parts of the image. This doesnt make sense to me. I dont know anything about printing but i've never had to cut anything off.

Your image has a 5:3 aspect ratio, which does not match the aspect ratio of your print. It will need to be cropped or bordered.
If you adjust your 2500 pixel side to be 14 inches (approximately 178dpi), the other side will only be 8.4 inches (1500/178) -- not the 11 you want. If you size the 1500 pixel size to 11 inches (about 136 dpi), then the longer side will be almost 18.4 inches, and you'll have to crop a substantial amount.

Go to the Options for the Crop tool and select "Fixed Size" and then enter 11" x 14" at 200 dpi. Then draw out and adjust your crop marquee to give you the best crop.
This method will both crop and resample your image at the same time, but not too much using these numbers. You may need to re-sharpen after doing this.
If you don't want to se-sample, then first use the Image Size dialog to set the resolution to whatever you need to get one dimension correct in inches -- make sure the "Resample" box is UNchecked.
Then just use the Crop tool to select the best of the rest ...

well, if you're going from a 1.67 aspect ratio (2500x1500) to a 1.27 aspect ratio (11x14), you're going to have to either pad the image on the short edge, or lose some of it
