I thought mine would be at least 0.5 higher and had only one comment so I guess no one really loved or hated it but I'd like to know if anyone can tell me why it was only average as I thought it was better than some of my entries that scored higher ... well, I suppose I would really ;)

Yes i was not happy as well. I dont know how to put my picture in the post, but i felt that my "fences of war"
shot should have done better. I am not complaining really, i just felt i had put more into it than a 128th place deserved. But to be fair its a military thing and maybe people wouldnt be able to appreciate such a picture unless they were in that sort of circumstance.

I would agree with your description "its a military thing", subject matter specialized & seen in particular situations may be unfamiliar to some viewers. Used primarily as a barrier for military and prison applications, this stuff is actually readily available, and I have actually see it used in the landscape quite often around many different civilian government, commercial, & personal applications for warehouses, parking lots, & private homes.
Although not an especially high vote, it is dpc rated average.
It has a old D-Day beaches of Normandy feel to it, I am not surprised it is a current emplacement.
The near abstract quality of the common but effective high contrast rendering, I think contributes to the subject, and part of the pictures strength. - but that aspect might be a detriment for some who scored it.
I like the overall circular, curving pattern overlaid on a classic thirds composition. The reflected light changes and also transforms the wires dimension as the background moves from white to black to pattern.
I scored "fences of war" quite high.
Thanks for the help. It always always helps to get another persons view of the image. You know how you see the picture everyday as you work on it (or not) just trying to get it perfect then you lose sight a little bit...
