Depends...on your local area (the south is too hot in the summer, the north too cold and dead in the winter). A lot seems to be driven by when the school wants the pics for the year book, and many people procrastinate. I did a senior this month (march) and usually do a few in December as several school here have deadlines right before xmas break or the week back in January.
About the only months I don't shoot seniors is Jan and Feb..used to be march till this year! Most are in the summer - june thru august around here. Every kid is different though - some want it done before vacation, or after (to get a tan or avoid a burn). Fall color is getting more popular here.
Outdoor sessions are usually shot in the evenings as you can't get a teen out of bed for morning shoots. Studio sessions are more flexible, but so many kids are busy these days with jobs and activities it can be a challenge.
I've shot in the heat of summer, cold of winter in the snow, in the rain, the wind...it's more challenging that most weddings, weather wise LOL
